A furniture style that helped define the
1960s still rules for some devoted homeowners

Architect Rodney Friedman and his wife, Shirley, sit at
their dining room table on "wishbone" chairs by Danish designer
Hans Wegner they purchased 45 years ago while stationed with
the Air Force in Germany.
Those chairs cost them about $14 apiece, which was still a
chunk "when your salary was $200 a month," Friedman said. It
matters little to them that those chairs now cost $600 to $700
each or that their other famous Wegner chair, the Model 19 or
Papa Bear chair, goes up for bid on eBay at $2,000 to
$3,000.
